Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport Donates to People Affected and Infected with HIV/Aids

22 November 2005
The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport will be distributing large bungles of clothing and food parcels to the people affected and infected by the HIV/Aids in the informal settlements of the Cape Flats on Friday, November 25, 2005.

The campaign to alleviate the destitution of people affected by this dreaded disease is the initiative of the HIV/Aids Forum of the Department. Staff members had heeded the call of the forum and donated new and old clothes for the past four months.

A task team of the department will team up with health staff from community clinics at Mfuleni and Phillipi. As part of the programme for the day, there will be condoms distribution, individual and group discussions regarding general health issues and sexually transmitted infections and safer sexual practices. The importance of pre-test counseling will also be emphasized.

The media is invited to join the team as they tour Phillipi and Mfuleni informal settlements. See programme attached.
