Chapman’s Peak Toll Fee Increase

The annual increase of the Chapman’s Peak Drive toll fees will take effect on 1 August 2014.

The increase is determined according to the percentage increase between the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in March the previous year and March the current year, plus 0.4 %.

The following vehicles are exempted from paying toll fees:

  • South African Police Service motor vehicles in the performance of duty.
  • South African National Defence Force vehicles in the performance of duty.
  • Western Cape Government emergency vehicles and Traffic Police vehicles in the performance of duty.
  • City of Cape Town emergency services vehicles and Traffic Police vehicles in performance of duty.
  • Ambulances used for an ambulance service licensed in terms of the Western Cape Ambulance Services Act, 2012 (Act 3 of 2010) used in the performance of ambulance services.
  • Fire-fighting vehicles as defined in section 1 of the National Road Traffic Act, 1996 (Act 93 of 1996) used in the performance of fire-fighting services.
  • Rescue vehicles as defined in section 1 of the National Road Traffic Act, 1996 Act 93 of 1996) used in the performance of rescuing services.
  • South African National Parks (SANParks).

  • All tariffs include 14% VAT
  • Rebates are only applicable to persons who drive or use motor vehicles on the toll road and who have pre-registered with the Concessionaire and who maintain a minimum balance of R50.00 in their accounts. Rebates are applicable to non-commercial use only.
  • Wild Card Tariffs are only applicable to persons who drive or use motor vehicles on the toll road and who are in possession of valid Wild Cards as distributed by South African National Parks and CapeNature and who have pre-registered with the Concessionaire. Wild card holders who have not pre-registered but who present their cards at the toll plaza will not qualify for the Wild Card Tariff. Wild Card tariffs are applicable to non-commercial use only.

Frequent User Discounted Rates and Taxi Concessions

Taxis are charged at a flat rate of R19.00 per trip.

Chapman's Peak Drive awards its registered frequent users with discounted fees:

  • Normal frequent users receive a discount from the fourth trip which increases as they use the road. This is reset per calendar month e.g Mr X will be charged R12.00 if this is his 17th trip for the month. View the discount structure table for normal users.
  • Wild Card users receive a discount from the first trip. The road user must ensure that he has a valid Wild Card to qualify for the extra discount. View the discount structure table for Wild Card holders.

Registered frequent users can use a credit card or a card supplied by the operator. If they use the operator's card it must carry R50.00 plus one standard trip fare. No deposit is needed if a credit card is used.
