Call for Comments on the 2017 Draft Policy on the Funding of NGOs

The Department of Social Development would like to remind all stakeholders, groups, or individuals that they have one week left to comment on the draft 2017 Policy on the Funding of NGOs.

The policy aims to ensure that transfer payments to NGOs are allocated and managed in a transparent way that promotes accountability, efficient administration, clear performance requirements and the principles of administrative justice, aligned with the province’s specific needs, circumstances and budgetary allocations.

The NGO sector plays a critical role in service delivery in the fields of social welfare, and community development. The Department will spend over a R1 billion during this financial year funding more than 2 000 NGO partners who provide key social welfare services, and community development services.

As part of the public consultation process, written submissions can be made to the Head of Department, by email to HOD.DSD@westerncape.gov.za by Friday, 6 October 2017.
