Brackengate Hospital of Hope health heroes recognized for service

26 January 2021

Healthcare workers at the Brackengate Hospital of Hope have been recognized for their selfless service as they continue to fight the Coronavirus pandemic.

Movement Hospital Heroes partnered with Gift of the Givers to put a smile on healthcare workers' faces by delivering refreshments for staff on Tuesday, 26 January 2021. The donation included cooldrinks and other snacks.

Dr Tamsin Lovelock of Brackengate Hospital of Hope and Chief Director of the Metro Health Service Dr Giovanni Perez accepted the donations on behalf of workers.

Dr Perez thanked the donors for their efforts.

“Our health workers have been affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. They have survived it and they are thriving. A presentation like this, these gifts, they give hope to our health workers. It also helps them to see that their work has not gone unrecognised.”

Hospital Heroes aims to raise funds to be able to buy refreshments to distribute to medical staff at hospitals, and made its first delivery on Friday 22 January, at New Somerset Hospital in Cape Town.

Western Cape Government Health wishes to thank Hospital Heroes and the Gift of the Givers for their generosity and support for frontline workers. We are extremely grateful and thank you on behalf of our healthcare teams.

We urge the public to help us fight the virus by continuing to wear their masks when they leave home, maintaining a physical distance of 1.5 m from others, staying sick when home and avoiding social gatherings.
