Beware another fake job and traffic officer training scam

Gene Louw Traffic College (GLTC) has become aware of a new rash of fake traffic officer job advertisements being placed in the College’s name. Some of these fake advertisements include a request for payment.

Please note:

1. The only way to apply for any Western Cape Government (WCG) post is to respond to an advertisement for a vacant post on official channels such as provincial government websites or newspaper advertisements.
2. No applicant for a vacant WCG post at GLTC or in any other provincial government institution will ever be asked to pay an application fee. If you see anything that seems to be an advertisement for a job but asks for money, you can be sure it is a scam.
3. No GLTC jobs are ever advertised on Facebook (but the official Western Cape Government Facebook page may provide a link to an official advertisement). No GLTC jobs are ever advertised by WhatsApp or audio message. If you see or hear anything that seems to be an advertisement for a job on Facebook, WhatsApp or an audio message, ignore it.
4. GLTC only provides traffic officer training to people employed in a vacant traffic officer post at a local authority or provincial administration. This training is paid for by the local authority or provincial administration which employs the trainee. If you see anything that seems to be an advertisement for GLTC training but asks for money, you can be sure it is a scam.

Please be careful. Ask GLTC to verify any job offer or training offer that does not come through official channels.
