75-Year-Old Beneficiary to Receive Keys for Pelican Park House

Seventy-five year old Msitsai Zubula and his wife will be among the beneficiary families who will receive the keys to their new homes at the Pelican Park Housing Project in Cape Town tomorrow, 14 November 2013.

Present for the handing over will be Western Cape Human Settlements Minister Bonginkosi Madikizela, the Mayor of Cape Town, Alderman Patricia De Lille, and the Mayco Member for Human Settlements at the City, Councillor Thandeka Gcada.

The beneficiaries will also include special-needs beneficiaries.

Pelican Park is an environmentally-friendly development that will include schools, a clinic, library, fuel station and a shopping centre. In total 2 024 subsidy homes, for people earning less than R3 500 per month,  and 1 100 bonded houses will be built, to make up the City of Cape Town’s largest integrated housing project. 

The project is an example of the department's vision of integrated human settlements.

Directions: 

  • Take the N2 out of Cape Town.  
  • Take the M17 (Jan Smuts Drive) South.  
  • Jan Smuts will merge onto New Strandfontein Road.
  • Cross Klip road and Fifth Avenue and you will see 14th Avenue on your right.
  • Drive down 14th Avenue to the church at the bottom of 14th Avenue.
