Western Cape women working in agriculture are encouraged to enter the Female Entrepreneur Awards, which celebrate excellence in this field.
Entries for the awards close on 31 May 2018.
An initiative of the National Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the awards are hosted in partnership with provincial departments of agriculture.
Entries are open in the following categories:
Minister of Economic Opportunities, Alan Winde said “the Western Cape has a record of performing very well in the awards. Last year, two Western Cape women, Berene Damons and Carmelita Cleo Kelly, walked away with three of the national awards. They are part of a group of women doing really good things in agriculture in the Western Cape, and who are breaking down the notion that agriculture is a field reserved for men. We know that we have excellent female agricultural entrepreneurs in our province, so I encourage them all to enter.”
The provincial winners will be announced on 7 August. The national competition winners will be announced at an event to be held in the Eastern Cape on 23 August.
