Human Settlements Shines at 2015 Provincial Public Service Excellence Awards

9 September 2015

Congratulations to some of the staff of the Western Cape Department of Human Settlements who scooped several awards at the 2015 Western Cape Public Excellence Awards, an annual event held this year on 8 September 2015 at the Old Mutual facility in Pinelands, Cape Town.

The colleagues who did the Department proud are:

  • Jacqui Samson – Best Public Service Leader –(Senior Manager)– Gold
  • Michael Collison – Best Overall Batho Pele (Citizen Centric) Public Servant– Gold
  • Taymian Parenzee – Best Frontline Public Service Employee – Silver
  • Helpdesk and Complaints Team – Best Batho Pele Team – Bronze

The winners were awarded their prizes by Western Cape Premier Helen Zille, who uses the awards as an opportunity to recognise Western Cape Government professionals who have been outstanding during the year. This year’s awards were particularly noteworthy as the Western Cape Government achieved 12 clean audits out of 13 departments, an unprecedented achievement in the history of South Africa’s democracy.

The theme of this year’s Service Excellence Awards was ‘Better Together Leading the Public Service to Higher Productivity’. For the Western Cape Government (WCG) success means the effective and efficient delivery of its mandate so that it earns the acknowledgment of being the best-run regional government in the world, allowing the people of the Western Cape to live lives they value.

We’re proud that the staff of Human Settlements are doing their bit for the Western Cape Government’s success. Well done!
