“These winners have done us proud through contributing to excellent service delivery in the Western Cape” said Minister Madikizela. “I had no doubt that each and every entry for the national prizes were capable of winning, yet that was up to the judges to decide and we agree with their decisions. Everyone who took part tonight was already a winner at the provincial level, and they can walk away with their heads held high. I hope they all continue to do an excellent job for the province in the future”

The awards also aim to promote excellence, best practices and instil  healthy competition among all Departments of Human Settlements in Provinces and Municipalities. They are also a way of encouraging and thanking all the Human Settlements stakeholders who are making a valuable contribution to help the government realize the goal of providing decent housing, tenure of security and comfortable living to all South African people. The awards were handed out by the National Minister of Human Settlements, Mrs Lindiwe Sisulu and the Deputy National Minister Zoe Kota Fredericks along with other dignitaries.
