DSD to expand own services in Lavender Hill area and surrounds

The Department of Social Development will from 1 April 2018 render all child care and protection services, previously provided by the Cape Flats Development Association (CAFDA) from its Retreat local office. The Department will through this expansion of own services, bring both social welfare and child protection services closer to the communities of Lavender Hill, Grassy Park, CAFDA Village, Retreat, Steenberg and Zeekoeivlei.

“The challenging economic environment is having an adverse effect on many of our social partners and NGOs. Despite this, we remain committed to rendering quality services to communities. We continue to encourage residents to approach our social workers for assistance,” says Minister Albert Fritz.

Social work services such as intake services which deal with all new cases, referrals, and scheduled appointments, will be accessible at these four services points within the affected communities:
