Western Cape Government says "Viva Amabokoboko" as the Rugby World Cup kicks off

8 September 2023

Western Cape Premier Alan Winde and Western Cape Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport Anroux Marais wished the Springboks well in the Rugby World Cup, which kicks off in France tonight.

Premier Winde said: "Rugby is a firm part of the Western Cape’s diverse heritage and off the field has proven to be a fantastic unifier of our residents, bringing people from all backgrounds together. On the field, I wish the Springboks the very best of luck. Let us all unite and cheer the Boks on to another Rugby World Cup victory."

Minister Marais added: "Let's all support the Boks on Sunday against Scotland. Play well Bokke! As a province to which so many Springboks have links, the Western Cape wishes you all the best in your campaign to bring the  Rugby World Cup Trophy home again!"
