Nedbank Sports Trust Development Cycling Nominated for a DSIA 2015 Award

18 February 2015

The Nedbank Sports Trust Development Cycling programme was nominated for the prestigious 2015 Discovery Sport Industry Awards (DSIA) Sport Development Programme of the Year Award. The winner was announced at the DSIA ceremony that took place on 12 February 2015 at the Sandton Convention centre. Although the award went to Diepsloot Mountain Bike Academy, the nomination opened up many networking and publicity doors for the programme.

The Sports Trust cycling programme has changed the lives of 905 children in 36 schools on the Cape Flats, at De Doorns (Boland) and at Saldanha (West Coast). It is supported by the Club Development Programme at the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS), in partnership with Nedbank and the Sports Trust.

The DSIA 2015 winners were selected from a record-breaking number of entries and the competition was judged by some of the most respected names in sport. The steering and judging process was independently adjudicated by Deloitte.

The Sports Trust and DCAS will continue to provide its development cyclists with transport and accommodation when competing at various events on the Western Cape cycling calendar. We want to continue with these kinds of partnerships to create opportunities for children. Let us support the enhancement of education through sport, better together.
