Minister Plato to Conduct Safety Walkabout in Mitchell’s Plain Town Centre

23 June 2014

Today, 23 June 2014, Dan Plato, Western Cape Minister of Community Safety, together with local councillors will conduct a walkabout in the Mitchell’s Plain Town Centre, engaging with traders to address their safety concerns.

Minister Plato has received various complaints from local traders that the Mitchell’s Plain Town Centre is falling victim to increased crime, drug and gangsterism activities. The walkabout, in cooperation with local leaders, seeks to gather testimonies from traders regarding their safety concerns, and discuss possible safety solutions. The Western Cape Government’s commitment to creating safer communities where people live, work, shop and travel within the province, can only be achieved through effective partnerships.
