MEC Grant to Pay Tribute to Teachers on World Teachers Day

4 October 2009
On Monday, 5 October 2009, MEC for Education in the Western Cape Donald Grant will be paying tribute to our Province's teachers on World Teachers Day.

The celebrations will begin at Vuzamanzi Primary in Khayelitsha where the MEC will be presented with copies of a "Thank you teacher" book provided by various sponsors. The book comprises a collection of messages from learners to their teachers and was conceptualized by Eddie Kirsten, Director of Human Capital Development, and sponsored by the Oxford University Press and ABC printing.

The WCED will distribute the "Thank you teacher book" to all the schools throughout the Western Cape next week.

MEC Grant will present the book to the teachers of Vuzamanzi Primary and Bulumko Secondary. He will then join +/- 300 teachers at a celebratory event in Hanover Park in the afternoon.
