Media alert: Learners to showcase their bricklaying and carpentry skills

28 September 2018

Tomorrow, the WCED will be hosting the 2018 Practical Skills Competition for Technical Skills.

Learners will be competing in various areas including Bricklaying, Cabinet making, Carpentry, and Plumbing. They will be constructing brick walls, creating furniture and laying floors. They will be judged on their accuracy, fit and finish.

The competition aims to promote skilled trades, as well as, showcase the various career options our youth have in these areas.

Schools have selected candidates to participate in the Provincial Competition. The winners will then advance to the National Skills Competition. They could ultimately even participate in the World Skills Competition to be held in Russia in 2019.
