City Hosts Free Concert at Wynberg Park

The City of Cape Town is to host a Reconciliation Concert at Wynberg Park on Sunday, 11 December 2005.

Organised by the City's Arts and Culture Department, this event will be the flagship concert and the third in a series of six concerts at this centrally situated venue.

The City's Concerts in the Park are free of charge and aim to encourage communities to reclaim these open spaces in a positive way.

Families are invited to pack a picnic basket and join in the fun at Wynberg Park from 10:00 (10am) until 17:30 (5.30pm). Various activities will keep the public entertained during the day.

Big names such as Allou April, Tucan Tucan and Virtual Jazz Reality will perform in the afternoon. The curtain raiser will be performed by local community artistes.

Throughout the day there will be exhibitions and craft markets of NGOs linked to the City's Social Development programmes and information desks publicising services offered by the City's Social Development Directorate.

The City's Come and Play team will provide lots of action by way of extreme sports demonstrations, giant games, fun activities for smaller kids, and stage acts.

12 February 2006: Westridge Park, Mitchells Plain
5 March 2006: Khayelitsha Stadium, Khayelitsha
