N7 Bridge Partially Re-Opened

4 October 2006
The N7 bridge in the vicinity of Acacia Park that was damaged by a fire in an informal settlement under the bridge in the early hours of Monday morning will partially re-open at 15:30 today, Thursday, 5 October.

Road users will not be able to travel northbound, that is from Goodwood to the N1. The southbound lane will be opened for normal traffic flow - that is for two lanes of traffic travelling from the N1 towards Goodwood.

This situation will continue for one week, until Wednesday 11 October 2006, to allow for the construction of temporary cross-overs of the median. When this work is completed one lane will carry southbound traffic and the other northbound traffic. Road users will then be able to travel from Goodwood to the N1.

The full re-opening of the bridge will in all likelihood take several months.
