Cape Town's Top Traffic Offenders

In support of its intensified efforts to reclaim unpaid traffic fines, Cape Town Traffic Services is releasing a list of the top ten taxis, private vehicles and BMT lane offenders. The list identifies the most frequent offenders on the city's roads and highlights the extent of their transgressions.

"We urge motorists to pay their outstanding fines to avoid being arrested. Yesterday (13 October) during an operation on the N2 BMT lane, 21 motorists were arrested on 42 warrants valued at R59 050.00", says Chief Inspector Merle Lourens, media spokesperson for Cape Town Traffic Services.

A further 82 motorists were fined for illegally using the bus lane and 63 other fines were issued for various traffic offences.
