Disruption in Water supply to Duynefontein and Milnerton

19 October 2009
The City's Water and Sanitation Department had to shut down the water supply to the Duynefontein area (near Melkbosstrand) at 12:00 (midday) today due to a defective control valve on the 600mm diameter Melkbos pipeline that supplies water to Duynefontein.

Emergency repair work is underway and is expected to be completed by midnight on Wednesday, 21 October. This will result in Duynefontein being without water supply for this period and the Milnerton area experiencing low water pressure because it is coupled to the same system. The Department will have water tankers in the area for domestic usage.

The residents of Duynefontein are kindly requested to ensure that their taps are closed during this period to prevent water loss or water damage when the supply is restored and nobody is at home.

The City apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks consumers for their co-operation.
