Residents Warned: City Busy with a Blitz on Oustanding Warrants

The City's Law Enforcement Court Section is currently conducting a blitz operation across the city to follow up on outstanding warrants related to a wide variety of offences.

The blitz commenced on Monday 30 August and will continue until all warrants have been actioned. All residents who have already been served with a warrant, but have not yet complied, will be visited by the Court Section in the coming days.

Persons who have not complied with the first warrant delivered to them will now be ordered to appear in court. Failing to do so will result in a second warrant being issued and upon failure to comply with the second warrant, the person will be arrested and taken to court.

Warrants to be actioned include, amongst others:

• Wrongfully erecting a building.
• Failure to comply with a notice.
• Wrongfully displaying new signs.
• Failure to attend court.
• Illegal dumping.
• Failure to produce a flammable substance certificate.
• Wrongfully causing a health nuisance.
• Failure to maintain fire extinguishers.
• Unlicensed vehicle.
• Unlicensed driver.
• Failure to comply with instruction given by a traffic officer.
• Zoning contraventions.
• Operating a business without a valid licence.
• Exceeding the speed limit.
• Utilising land for other purposes then approved.
• Failure to comply with fire safety regulations.
• Obstructing an escape route.

Parties who do not come forward themselves, will face further action that could end in arrest and physically being brought before court.
