Media Alert: Premier Zille to Attend Women's Day Breakfast

On Wednesday 10 August 2016, Premier Helen Zille will attend a Women’s Day Breakfast, as part of the 2016 Women’s Day Commemorations.

Premier Zille will be accompanied by her female cabinet colleagues, ministers Debbie Schäfer (Education), Nomafrench Mbombo (Health) and Anroux Marais (Cultural Affairs and Sport).

The breakfast – hosted at the District Six Museum by the Western Cape Government – will be attended by notable women from various sectors in society. The guests will include: Cape Town Mayor, Patricia de Lille, Janine Myburgh, from the Cape Chamber of Commerce, Ms Vivienne van der Merwe, from the Western Cape Network on Disability, and Museum Director Ms Bonita Bennet.

The national theme for this years’ Women’s Day Commemoration is “Women United to Move South Africa Forward”. The theme of the Western Cape breakfast is: “Reflections on where we were and where we are headed”.

As part of Women’s Month, the Western Cape Government will facilitate various initiatives aimed at creating awareness around issues affecting women.  

On Wednesday, Premier Zille will give the keynote address, which will be followed by a question and answer segment.
