Invitation to West Coast GBVF Summit

The media are invited to attend the West Coast District Municipality’s Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) Summit in Moorreesburg on Tuesday, 01 August 2023.

In October 2022, the Western Cape Government (WCG) hosted the first Provincial GBV Summit. Attendees looked critically at the gaps and strengths of the GBV National Strategic Plan to inform the annual review of the WCG GBV Implementation Plan.

The West Coast District Municipality’s GBVF Summit will focus on finding ways to localize National and Provincial strategies on GBVF, to ensure concrete solutions are found to address this scourge on a local level.

Announcements will also be made on interventions to bolster victim support services in the West Coast.

Executive Mayor Boffie Strydom will be joined by Western Cape Minister of Social Development, Sharna Fernandez, along with other stakeholders from the district and provincial government.
