Tomorrow, the surviving suspect involved in the armed robbery of Minister Fritz and his Spokesperson (Sihle Ngobese), will appear in the Athlone Magistrates Court to face charges.
The Spokesperson to the Minister will attend the court proceedings.
The court appearance marks 30 days since the incident in which two armed suspects held the Minister’s team at gunpoint, robbing them of their cellphones. The robbery resulted in a fierce shootout, which left one suspect dead, and the other injured.
This incident brought to bear the importance of the Department’s Youth Development work. Young people should know that there are opportunities available for those who are not in employment, education or training – rather than resorting to a life of crime.
There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews.
