Western Cape Provincial Spatial Development Framework and Guidelines for Golf Courses, Golf Estates, Polo Fields and Polo Estates to be Released

Premier Ebrahim Rasool and Provincial Minister of Environment, Planning and Economic Development, Tasneem Essop will release the Provincial Spatial Development Framework and other related guidelines and reports at 14:30 on Tuesday, December 13 at the Langa Sports Hall.

The Framework and guidelines are the Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning's contribution to the Krismisbox campaign as announced in September by Premier Rasool.

This campaign is the third of its kind since 2004 and follows the 100 days Campaign and the Easter Campaign.

The WCPSDF, The guidelines for: Golf Courses, Golf Estates, Polo Fields, Polo Estates and other related Guidelines:- Urban Edges, Resorts and the State of the Environment Report will also be released.

Premier Rasool will deliver the keynote address at the event, which will be attended by Mayors, members of the built environment fraternity, environmentalists and other key stakeholders.
Over the last year information sessions were held across the Province with all municipalities to workshop the WCPSDF.
This framework, which is in line with the National Spatial Development Perspective, will guide municipalities on present and future developments along Sustainable Development principles
(ecological integrity, social justice and economic efficiency).

The WCPSDF, as well as other related guidelines, will also serve as input for municipalities for their Integrated Development Plans (IDPs) and Spatial Development Frameworks (SDFs).
