Tomorrow, Thursday 6 December, Minister Alan Winde will address the media to provide feedback on his recent oversight visits across the Western Cape to eleven police stations, which includes a satellite office. He will also reflect on his first month in office, and in response, his priorities going forward.
Pursuant to Minister Winde’s first meeting with the SAPS Provincial Commissioner, Lt. Gen. Jula, he committed to visit at least ten police stations, to get a firsthand account of the state of our police stations, and their ability to adequately keep our communities safe.
Minister Winde also engaged with Neighbourhood Watch and Community Policing Forum structures and patrolled with the Steenberg/Lavender Hill Community Safety structures. All of these volunteers across the province, are essential cogs in our safety machine.
Crime is exacerbated across the Western Cape, as 85% of the province’s police stations are understaffed. Minister Winde will discuss steps he plans to take in this regard.
There will be an opportunity for interviews and photographs.
ALL MEDIA ARE INVITED TO ATTEND.
