Minister Plato takes Safety oversight to the Overberg

Tonight, Thursday 26 May 2016, and this Weekend, Friday 27 May 2016 and Saturday 27 May 2016, Western Cape Minister of Community Safety, Dan Plato, together with the Department of Community Safety will host various oversight engagements in the Overberg region.

This evening, 26 May 2016, Minister Plato will conduct an oversight walkabout with the local Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) in the suburb of Mount Pleasant, Hermanus. The solidarity patrol with the Neighbourhood Watch highlight the role each community member can play to launch visible crime prevention strategies in their neighbourhoods in our united effort to help create safer communities.

On Friday, 27 May 2016, and Saturday, 28 May 2016, Minister Plato and the Department of Community Safety will be hosting the Policing Needs and Priorities (PNP) determination consultation session in Hermanus for the Overberg cluster.

This weekend, the communities of Bredasdorp, Caledon, Gans Bay, Genadendal, Grabouw, Hermanus, Kleinmond, Napier, Riviersonderend, Stanford, Struisbaai and

Villiersdorp have the opportunity to determine their policing needs and priorities and to contribute to the Safety Plan, as a safety blueprint for communities which provides a shared ownership, responsibility and accountability to safety.
