Prince Albert Health Facilities

27 January 2017

On Wednesday, 25 January, Western Cape Minister of Health, Dr Nomafrench Mbombo visited the Prince Albert Health facilities as part of her oversight visits to the Central Karoo district.
She was joined by the Department of Health District Management and the Mayor of Prince Albert, Mr Goliath Lottering. The purpose of the visit was to obtain an overview of the facilities and to meet with the Hospital Board of Prince Albert Hospital.  “Community involvement is very important to us, our goal for 2017 is to render patient centred services and obtaining feedback from patients regarding their experiences of the service/s rendered to them.” said Dr Nomafrench Mbombo, Western Cape Minister of Health.
Providing quality healthcare even in the rural areas was discussed at length in the Facility Board Meeting. The Minister also appointed the chairperson of the Hospital Board, Mrs. Barbara Gorniak, as a member of the District Health Council for Central Karoo. This appointment will ensure that there is a representation of the Prince Albert Community in the DHC.

The inclusion of members from Merweville, Leeu Gamka and Klaarstroom were requested and nominations will be obtained.  This is to ensure that all the communities that make use of  Prince Albert health facilities have representation in the board. The members of the Hospital Board welcomed the guidance and information regarding their role in the health services. They are: Barbara Gorniak, Linda Jacquet,Jakoba Visagie, Dr.Leon Lerm, Dr Jill Gauntlett, Pieter Theron, Linda Jaquet and Dr Henry Basson.  Minister Mbombo was pleasantly surprised by the good status of the health facilities and the maintenance of Prince Albert and the rural areas in general and complimented the staff and management.
