This is the fifth edition of the Municipal Economic Review and Outlook (MERO) since its inception in 2012. The MERO continues to provide valuable evidenced-based research to municipalities within the Western Cape in support of enhanced planning for economic growth, job creation and socio-economic upliftment.
The Municipal Economic Review and Outlook (MERO) provides insightful evidencebased research about the state of the municipal economies within the Western Cape. The research becomes more critical as municipalities embark on the review of their 4th Generation Integrated Development Plans and the compilation of the 2018 Medium Term Revenue and Expenditure Budgets.
The Municipal Economic Review and Outlook (MERO) is an annual research publication produced by the Provincial Treasury of the Western Cape Government. The first edition of the MERO was published in 2012. It is aimed at informing policymakers at municipalities on key economic issues that affect policy, planning and budgeting.
