(Department of Human Settlements, Western Cape Government)

The Safer Western Cape Conference was held on 13 and 14 November 2019, at the River Club in Observatory. The main themes of the conference was “Reducing violence and building community safety through collaboration, professional policing and evidence-based interventions”. The Conference brought together crime, safety, and governance experts - which included both local and international speakers/representatives - to discuss innovative and practical ways to reduce violence and improve community safety in the Western Cape, by addressing issues such as violence prevention, gender-based violence, alcohol and drugs, environmental crime, commuter safety, and rural safety. Furthermore, the event focused on evidence-based policy best practice interventions, and collaboration between government, business, civil society, and communities.
