International Tourist Guides Day is held on 21 February each year. Western Cape celebrates Tourist guides for taking pride within the Province. They are committed to a meaningful contribution to increasing the number of tourists visiting the Province.

The tourist guide plays an important role in the tourism experience. Not only because of the story they tell but due to the human interaction and memorable experiences they create for tourists. Tourist guides provide assistance, and information on cultural, historical, natural, adventurous and contemporary heritage to people on organised tours and individual clients at educational establishments, religious and historical sites, museums, and at venues of other significant interests in the Western Cape.

It is important to note that tourist guides are legally required to register with the tourist guide registration office to ensure that tourists to our Province have a positive experience while they are on holidy in the Western Cape. Visitors' safety is imperative at any destination and travelling with a registered tourist guide will not only ensure their well-being but also give them the best experience possible.
