MOD Learners Make Their Voices Heard

16 January 2014

On 15 January 2014, three talented learners participating in the MOD (Mass participation, Opportunity and access; Development and growth) Programme got the opportunity to record a radio advertisement to promote MOD. The Programme is run by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS).

Kim Bergman (Heideveld High School), Fadiel Rhode (Kensington High School) and Lulama Damba (Kwamfundo High School) were selected from eight hopefuls after auditions at DCAS.

This was their first time in a professional recording studio, but the three performed very well. Fadiel Rhode, 15, who plays baseball through the MOD Programme at his school, recorded the Afrikaans version of the advertisement. He said:I was excited about being in a professional studio.”

The entire day showed how the DCAS MOD Programme is exposing learners to exciting new career possibilities.
