On Monday, Minister of Transport and Public Works, Donald Grant, and Minister of Human Settlements, Bonginkosi Madikizela, will reveal details of the Western Cape Government’s game-changing Better Living Model Exemplar Project (BLMEP). This innovative Western Cape Government-led initiative was announced by Premier Helen Zille in her 2016 State of the Province Address (SOPA).
The objective is to create a Better Living Model (“BLM”) characterized by a place where people can live, work, play and learn all within a desirable, connected, safe, and socially inclusive environment.
The 22 hectare former Conradie Hospital site has been identified for the development of an integrated, sustainable, and affordable residentially-led, mixed-use neighbourhood, that will see a multi-million rand investment and partnership between the Western Cape Government, the City of Cape Town, and the private sector.
Minister Grant and Minister Madikizela will provide details on this innovative new initiative.
