Minister Plato kicks off Safety Oversight visits to Shopping Malls

10 November 2014

This week, 11-14 November 2014, Western Cape Minister of Community Safety, Dan Plato, will be kicking off safety oversight visits to various shopping malls and centres in and around Cape Town.

The visits to shopping centres, malls, complexes and individual shops will be an ongoing campaign, leading towards the festive season, highlighting the combined efforts by all the safety role-players involved to ensure the safety of shoppers and visitors in the Western Cape.

Following initial responses by security companies, different mall management, the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the public at large to the increased incidents of robberies at shopping malls, complexes and various shops in the province; Minister Plato’s visits seeks to not only help ensure the safety of people in the province but to also build meaningful partnerships with the privates sector, the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Department of Community Safety in the Western Cape towards safer environments.

There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews.
