On 27 March, Minister of Education, Donald Grant, will be visiting the Cape Teaching and Leadership Institute where 500 Foundation Phase educators are receiving training in the teaching of language and reading skills.
Educators will be attending workshops that offer programmes such as "Strategies to promote critical reading", "How to teach pattern poetry", "Getting our learners excited about reading" and how best to use readers.
The CTLI is also holding an induction programme for new school principals on leadership and management. The programme will cover topics such as the legal framework within a principal operates, WCED structures and protocols, school management team alignment and communication.
