Media Alert: Farmworkers to Compete in Provincial Sports Day

On Saturday, 2 May 2015, the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport will host the annual Western Cape Farmworkers’ Sports day in Swellendam.

This event is held every year to encourage farmworkers to compete in the spirit of healthy competition. Farmworkers are encouraged to form teams or to compete individually. Over 800 farmworkers from across the Western Cape are expected to compete in the various sporting codes, which include football, rugby, netball, cross country, tug of war and dominoes.

The day will end with a prize-giving ceremony.
