Human Settlements deliver title deeds to elderly residents in Piketberg
Residents in Piketberg, along the West Coast region, were overjoyed when they received their Title Deeds on 1 November 2018 from the Western Cape Human Settlements Minister, Bonginkosi Madikizela and Executive Mayor of the area, Ray van Rooy.
A total of 16 beneficiaries received their Title Deeds, all aged between 40 and 71 years old. The eldest beneficiary, Mrs Sabiena Slabbert (71) expressed her gratitude.” I am very happy to receive my title deed. Thank you.”
This handover forms part of the Department’s strategic goals to prioritise the elderly with housing opportunities. The hand-over of the title deeds also give people a sense of pride and joy that they are owners of the property they live in.
Minister Madikizela, encouraged the beneficiaries to take care of their homes; “This title deed is your legal document- proof that you own the house. Look after it and realise the importance of owning your home it is an asset for generations to come”
