Skills in the green economy will be showcased at the Ministry of Economic Opportunities this First Thursday.
Alan Winde, Minister of Economic Opportunities, said the First Thursday programme for May was a partnership between the Ministry and GreenCape.
“South Africa is the world’s fastest growing green economy, and the Western Cape is driving this growth, as the home to the majority of the country’s green manufacturers. We are committed to ensuring that our young people can benefit from the growth in this sector, and this is why skills is one of our game-changers. GreenCape and its partners are doing valuable work in this space, and this First Thursday, residents will be able to learn more about the skills and youth development initiatives in the green economy,” said Minister Winde.
Skills and youth development organisations will exhibit at the event.
Ursula Wellmann, skills practitioner at GreenCape, said: “Skills development and suitable training underpins successful economic growth and development. This remains a focal point of the developmental work GreenCape does and we are honoured to be involved with the next First Thursday event, to showcase the dedicated organisations doing great work in this field.”
While the focus was on skills in the green economy, Minister Winde invited all residents to attend to share their ideas for economic growth and jobs with him.
