Cape Town Sport and Peace Conference to be addressed by Minister Marais

MEDIA ALERT: CAPE TOWN INTERNATIONAL SPORT AND PEACE CONFERENCE TO BE ADDRESSED BY MINISTER MARAIS  

Tomorrow, 13 September 2016, Western Cape Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Anroux Marais, will address the 4th Cape Town International Sport and Peace Conference.

Representatives from all spheres of government, non-profit, educational, corporate and media organisations will participate in the conference. The conference will discuss sport as a central means of promoting a more peaceful society, in which human dignity is preserved and valued.

The 4-day conference will afford delegates the opportunity to network, exchange ideas, share experiences and good practices, and develop concrete programmes and partnerships.

The interactive format of conference will address the key themes of:

  • Value education and role models, with a focus on women and sport;
  • Well-being, health and disability;
  • Community development, sport recreation, peace and partnerships;
  • Youth and leadership;
  • The role of federations in sport development.
