Minister Simmers to launch new housing project and hand over homes in Railton

On Thursday, 29 January 2026, Western Cape Minister of Infrastructure Tertuis Simmers will officially launch the Railton CBD housing project and hand over housing units to beneficiaries of the Railton 950 housing development.

The Railton visit forms part of the Western Cape Government’s continued focus on accelerating housing delivery in Swellendam. The Railton 950 development has already delivered 743 completed housing units, with further phases underway, while the Railton CBD project is aimed at providing much-needed housing opportunities closer to economic activity. Together, these projects represent a significant public investment in Railton, supporting dignified housing opportunities and more integrated, well-located communities.
