The Western Cape Government acknowledges the valuable role that entrepreneurs play in growing the economy and is determined to provide them with the support to grow.

We are proud to annouce the launch that aims to provide a platform to recognise, showcase and create a culture of entrepreneurship in the Western Cape.

 

Entries are now open for the Western Cape Entrepreneurship Competition Awards 2020.

The competition gives you the opportunity to take your business to the next level by being recognised as an outstanding entrepreneur in the Western Cape.

Competition Categories:

  • Emerging Business - A business in its initial growth phase operating in the Western Cape for 12 months or longer, but not longer than 36 months with a minimum annual turnover of R50 000.00;
  • Women-owned Business - A business in its initial growth phase operating in the Western Cape for 12 months or longer, but not longer than 36 months with a minimum annual turnover of R100 000.00;
  • Social Enterprise Business - Any revenue generating entity operating in the Western Cape for 12 months or longer, which aims to address a social challenge or need;
  • Innovative Business - Operating in the Western Cape for 12 months or longer. This refers to an innovative solution or approach to an existing service or product;
  • Township Business - A business in its initial growth phase operating in the Western Cape for 12 months or longer, but not longer than 36 months with a minimum annual turnover of R200 000.00; and
  • Youth-owned Business (18 to 35 years old) - A business in its initial growth phase operating in the Western Cape for 12 months or longer, but not longer than 36 months with a minimum annual turnover of R100 000.00.

Competition Criteria:

Businesses will be judged on: Growth, Innovation, Creativity, Sustainability, Industry relevance and Socio-economic impact.

How the competition works

There will be 1 winner and 1 runner up per category, resulting in 6 category winners and 6 runners-up. An overall winner will be selected. Winners will be announced at a virtual awards ceremony on 26 November 2020.
