WCG is awarded Top Employer 2023

“As the Western Cape Government, we were inspired by Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages to participate in the Top Employer Certification Programme,” Director-General, Dr Harry Malila said. Top Employers is a global HR authority on certifying excellence in people management practices.

The Top Employers Institute programme certifies organisations based on the participation and results of their People /HR Best Practices Survey. This survey covers six people practice domains consisting of 20 topics including People Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Acquisition, Learning, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Wellbeing and more.

“I am happy to announce that we form part of this group of leading, people-oriented employers: The Top Employers 2023,” he added. The programme has certified and recognised over 2 200 Top Employers in 122 countries/regions across five continents of which WCG is the first Provincial Government that was awarded the Top Employer Certification.

Recognition through this programme for people practices helps organisations elevate their status as a credible employer of choice. The Top Employers Certification demonstrates that an organisation is a trusted employer.

“Being certified as a Top Employer showcases our organisation’s dedication to a better world of work and exhibits this through excellent People Management policies and practices,” DG said.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed and made this certification possible. It is indeed a great achievement to be the first provincial government in South Africa to be recognised as a Top Employer,” he added.
