Visit the WCG eCentre in Lamberts Bay

Lamberts’ Bay, also known as the diamond of the West Coast, is a town located about 280km North of Cape Town. Situated at the mouth of the Jackals River, it’s a popular tourist destination as a fisherman’s town with catches such as crayfish, anchovies, sardines, and snoek.

With a population of about 7 000, many citizens are affected by unemployment and poverty and rely on factory and retail employment. Some of the needs in the community include afterschool care, adequate medical care, access to Western Cape departments and employment opportunities.

The Lamberts Bay eCentre, which first opened its doors in 2017, operates in the Don Burrel Thusong Centre and serves about 500 members monthly. As small as the eCentre is, it sees between 20 – 60 visitors on a good day and an average of 180 during weekly visits. The eCentre provides relief because all the services are free, and they also help with searching for vacancies, typing CVs or any other documents, and scanning and making copies. The staff help the younger children with school projects and offer computer classes.

The eCentre aims to uplift the community and provide support by giving visitors individual attention by identifying their needs and finding ways to help them. The Lamberts Bay eCentre is proud to have provided ICDL classes to its users since it has helped many students gain admission to universities, succeed in their careers, and enable some students to obtain jobs..
