Study Bursaries for 2013


Western Cape Government Bursaries

Bursaries are offered by different departments of the provincial government. These bursaries are specific to the area of focus of the department concerned.

Currently, the Western Cape Provincial Treasury and the Department of Transport and Public Works are offering bursaries to suitable applicants.

These bursaries have specific requirements and conditions attached to them. Applicants are advised to familiarise themselves with these requirements before applying. No applications will be accepted after the closing dates.

  • Western Cape Provincial Treasury
  • The Provincial Treasury, together with the Western Cape Education Department and Nedbank, introduced the Essay Writing Bursary Competition in 2009. The bursary competition is open to Grade 11 learners who plan on studying in one of the finance fields. This year, the closing date for this competition is 28 September 2012.   • Department of Transport and Public Works

  • The Masakh'Isizwe programme was initiated by the Department of Transport and Public Works in 2006. The programme offers bursaries for study towards a degree or higher diploma for a number of disciplines, namely:

    • Architecture.
    • Construction Management.
    • Civil Engineering.
    • Electrical Engineering.
    • Mechanical Engineering.
    • Quantity Surveying.
    • Town and Regional Planning.

    Bursary holders are also given first-hand experience in the workplace through experiential training.
