Beaufort West (M1 Holding Facility)
This facility serves the population of greater Beaufort West, Murraysberg, Leeugamka, Merweville and Nelspoort, which includes a large stretch of the N1 highway. The facility is on the Beaufort West SAPS premises. A new facility on the premises of the Beaufort West Hospital is currently under construction. This facility is currently utilised as a holding facility only and cases are transported to Oudtshoorn for postmortem examination.

George (M3 Referral Centre)
This facility on the premises of the George Hospital serves the population of the greater George area, Herold and Wilderness. This facility serves as a referral center to the Eden and Karoo districts.

Hermanus (M2)
The greater Hermanus area is served from Hermanus town. The facility on the premises of the Hermanus Hospital also services the greater Caledon, Betty's Bay and Bredasdorp areas.

Knysna (M2)
This facility serves the population of the greater Knysna, Sedgefield, Rheenendal, Plettenberg Bay and surrounding areas. The existing facility is on the Knysna SAPS premises.

Laingsburg (M1 Holding Facility)
This facility serves the population of Laingsburg town, Prince Albert and Klaarstroom and a large stretch of the N1 highway. This area has a high ratio of deaths/1 000 population annually in comparison with the provincial average of 1.64/1 000. This is largely due to the location of the N1 highway and together with its geographical location makes a holding facility essential despite the sparse population. This facility is utilised as a holding facility only and cases are transported to Laingsburg for postmortem examination. The facility is on the Laingsburg SAPS premises.

Malmesbury (M1)
The Malmesbury facility on the premises of the Swartland Hospital and provides a forensic pathology service to Malmesbury, Mooreesburg, Riebeeck-Kasteel, Riebeeck West, Kalbaskraal, Riverlands, Koringberg, Piketberg, Porterville, Yzerfontein, Redelingshuys.

Mossel Bay (M2)
This facility serves the population of the greater Mossel Bay, Great Brak River and Herbertsdale area. It also provides a Post-mortem service to the Riversdale holding facility. The building is on SAPS premises.

Oudtshoorn (M3)
This facility serves the population of the areas of greater Oudtshoorn, De Rust, Dysselsdorp, and Calitzdorp, Ladismith, Van Wyksdorp, Uniondale and Haarlem. This facility will also render a medico-legal postmortem service to holding facilities at Beaufort West and Laingsburg. The facility is situated in the centre of the Oudtshoorn SAPS premises.

Paarl (M3 Referral Centre)
The Paarl facility is in Paarl (Drakenstein Municipality) on the premises of the TC Newman Community Day Centre in the Winelands District. Paarl also serves as a referral centre and supports the Wellington, Philadelphia, Franschoek, Klapmuts and surrounding areas.

Riversdale (M1 Holding Facility)
This mortuary serves the population of the greater Riversdale, Heidelberg, Albertinia and Stilbaai areas. This facility is utilised as a holding facility only and cases are transported to the mortuary in Mossel Bay. This service is provided on private undertaker premises. A new facility is planned on the premises of the Riversdale Hospital.

Salt River Academic Centre (M6 Academic)
This facility serves the West Metropole of the City of Cape Town and deals with an average case load of 3 000 cases per annum. Training and teaching are provided, including under- and postgraduate training to the University of Cape Town.

Swellendam (M1 Holding Facility)
This facility serves the population in the Greater Swellendam, Bonnievale, Barrydale and Suurbraak areas. This facility is utilised as a holding facility only and cases are transported to the referral centre in Worcester for post mortem examination.

Stellenbosch (M3)
The Stellenbosch facility is on the premises of the Stellenbosch SAPS and receives cases from Stellenbosch, Somerset West, Pniel, Jacobsdal, Strand, Gordon's Bay and Sir Lowry's Village.

Tygerberg Academic Centre (M6 Academic)
This facility serves the East Metropole of the City of Cape Town and deals with an average case load of 2 800 cases per annum. Training and teaching are provided, including under- and postgraduate training to the University of Stellenbosch.

Vredenburg
The Vredenburg facility on the private premises serves the population of Vredenburg (Saldanha Bay Municipality), Hopefield, Laaiplek, Velddrift, Saldanha Bay, Langebaan and St Helena Bay.

Vredendal (M1)
The Vredendal facility (Matzikama Municipality) on the premises of the Vredendal Police station serves the communities of Vredendal, Clanwilliam, Citrusdal, Elandsbaai, Graafwater, LambertsBay, Van Rhyns Dorp, Klawer, Bitterfontein, Nuwerus, Lutzville, Doringbaai and Strandfontein.

Wolseley (M1 Holding Facility)
This facility on the premises of the Wolseley SAPS Station serves the greater Wolseley, Ceres, Tulbagh, Prince Alfred Hamlet and Saron area. This facility is utilised as a holding facility only and cases are transported to the referral centre in Worcester for postmortem examination.

Worcester (M3 Referral Centre)
In the Bredevalley Municipal area, this facility on the premises of the Worcester Hospital acts as a referral centre. The facility also provides a Forensic Pathology service to the community of Worcester as well as to Wolseley, Robertson, Ashton, Montagu, McGregor as well as a large section of the N1 highway stretching through De Doorns as far as Touwsriver.
