Tourism Month 2021

Date:
24 August 2021
Category:
Campaign
Description:

TOURISM MONTH 2021 is celebrated in September to highlight South Africa’s diverse tourism offerings, and the sector’s significant contribution to the country’s economy.

Inspired by the annual United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), World Tourism Day celebrations on 27 September, Tourism Month provides a platform for the South African industry to reflect and commemorate its milestones in relation to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

The 2021 UNWTO theme for World Tourism Day Celebrations is: “Tourism for inclusive growth” and the international official celebration will be held in Cote d'Ivoire.

This year’s theme links with the Western Cape Government’s focus on jobs as well as dignity. Tourism Month is also an ideal platform for the province and regions to launch their Spring and Summer season activities.

For Tourism Month 2021, we have adapted the UNWTO’s theme under the banner “Inclusive Recovery” (#buildingbackbetter).

To achieve this, four themes were identified that underpin the theme of Inclusive Recovery and will define the events in the month of September 2021.
