Western Cape tennis stars crowned national champions

5 November 2025

The Rising Star Tennis Tournament, presented by Tennis South Africa, took place in Gauteng East from 31 October to 2 November 2025, and Western Cape schools made their mark in spectacular fashion.

In the boys’ division, Durbanville Primary School delivered a flawless performance to claim the National Champion title. Justin Adams, Mathew Daschner, Preston Adams, and Luca Visser remained undefeated throughout the tournament. Their journey began as Western Province winners, progressed to Western Cape champions, and culminated in a historic national victory — the first ever for a Western Cape school in this division!

In the final match, Durbanville Primary faced off against defending champions Uhmlali Prep from KwaZulu-Natal. With exceptional play, teamwork, and perseverance, they overcame their opponents and brought the trophy home.

Meanwhile, in the girls’ division, Courtrai Primary School’s u.13A team, Elisa Ehlers, Mienke Troskie, Munke Blom and Lara Schwabe, also rose to the occasion, clinching the national title with an equally impressive unbeaten streak. Their dominance extended beyond the Rising Star Tournament, with victories at the Courtrai Tournament, the Swellendam Tournament and the Gerrie Berner Tournament hosted by Paarl Gymnasium, where 16 schools competed.

These young athletes have proven that they’re not just rising stars — they’re ones to watch. The future of South African tennis is in very capable hands!
