Celebrating our teachers who do so much, often behind the scenes, because they care.
October is Teacher Appreciation Month, a time for us to recognise and celebrate the teachers who make a difference in the lives of our children every day.
Much of what teachers do happens beyond the classroom and long after the school bell has rung.
Every day, teachers show up for our children. They give their time, energy and commitment, not because anyone is watching, but because they care.
It is the teacher marking books while family and friends spend time together.
It is the teacher who gives up a Saturday to coach a sports team, lead an activity, or provide extra lessons.
It is the teacher who arrives early, stays late, and always finds time for a learner who needs support.
These moments may seem small, but they leave a lasting impact. They shape futures, open doors, and help young people realise their potential.
This Teacher Appreciation Month, we invite learners, parents, former learners, and communities across the Western Cape to join us in thanking the teachers who have made a difference in their lives.
To every teacher across the Western Cape, thank you for showing up for our children every day, because you care.

Behind Every Dream Realised Is a Teacher Who Believed.
October is Teacher Appreciation month, where we celebrate our teachers.
Behind all the bookkeepers, nurses, lawyers, engineers, plumbers, artists is a teacher who motivated and molded them. Before the titles, the degrees, diplomas and the big idea, there was a teacher. They are the quiet force powering our progress and growth.
This October, we pay tribute to our teachers who have helped us reach our dreams, and who continue to guide us toward new horizons.

This #ThankaTeacher month, share your words of gratitude!
Show your appreciation by posting your own story of gratitude using the hashtag #ThankaTeacher
You can do this in a number of ways:
- Write a message about your teacher
- Post a video message to or about your teacher
- Draw and post a picture of you and your teacher
- Post a photo of your teacher – and include your name and grade.
- Post anything to show you appreciate teachers!
Don’t forget to use #ThankaTeacher
We are also encouraging all learners to celebrate World Teachers Day on 5 October 2024, by writing a card or letter to their teacher. A small gesture such as this goes a long way!
