Sonderend Road Primary School officially launched its Career Club on 20 May 2026 under the theme “Sonderend Without Limits,” marking an important step in inspiring learners to explore future career possibilities.
The event brought together learners, educators, district officials, and community partners to promote early career awareness. The school is one of three in Manenberg selected for the programme, which aligns with the Western Cape Education Department’s Growth for Jobs strategy.
A key highlight was the collaboration with Silverstream School of Skills. Learners impressed attendees with practical demonstrations, showcasing valuable vocational skills and challenging misconceptions about alternative education pathways.
The initiative aims to build learners’ confidence, expand career awareness, and encourage them to rise above social and economic challenges. Teachers were also recognised for their strong focus on Life Skills and Life Orientation, as well as their collaborative approach.
The launch reinforced a clear message: learners from Manenberg have immense potential. Through the Career Club, Sonderend Road Primary is committed to helping learners realise that their futures are not defined by circumstance, but by determination and opportunity.
