Information about Examination Registration for the May/June 2026 Examinations
Below, please find the links to learn about the examination registration processes:
Registration for the May/June 2026 examination opens on 3 November 2025 – 27 January 2026 for both Senior Certificate (SC) and National Senior Certificate (NSC) part-time candidates.
Online registration at www.eservices.gov.za is available for Senior Certificate (SC) part-time candidates from 3 November 2025.
Visit one of the Western Cape Education Department's (WCED) district offices or the Head Office (Cape Town) to complete your registration for the May/June 2026 examination.

Second Chance Matric Programme (SCMP) | Information
- The Second Chance Matric Programme (SCMP) is offered by the Department of Basic Education to assist National Senior Certificate (NSC) and Senior Certificate (SC) part-time candidates to prepare for the May/June and October/November examinations.
- The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) established Second Chance Matric Programme (SCMP) Centres in the Western Cape.
- The Second Chance Matric Programme Tutoring Centres for 2026 will be confirmed in January 2026.
- The Second Chance Matric Programme Tutoring Centres for 2026 will be confirmed in January 2026.
- The centres provide support to part-time candidates who have not been able to meet the requirements of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) or the amended Senior Certificate (SC).
The classes are offered:
- February — May: Part-time candidates who are registered for the May/June examination.
- August — October: Part-time candidates who are registered for the October/November examination.
- February — May: Part-time candidates who are registered for the May/June examination.
- The programme will provide free tutoring to:
- NSC June examination: Candidates who wrote the NSC examination in previous examination sittings from 2008 to 2025 and wish to rewrite any of their subjects in order to improve their overall results.
- NSC November examination: Candidates who wrote the NSC exam in previous exam sittings from 2008 to 2025 and wish to rewrite any of their subjects in order to improve their overall results, as well as NSC candidates offering new subjects for which they will complete the School-Based Assessments (SBA) in 2026.
- SC June examination: Adult candidates who are 18 years and older, have at least a Grade 9 qualification / Adult Education and Training Level 4 qualification and who have not yet met the requirements for an SC/matric qualification or wish to improve their previous SC results obtained.
- NSC June examination: Candidates who wrote the NSC examination in previous examination sittings from 2008 to 2025 and wish to rewrite any of their subjects in order to improve their overall results.
The tutoring will cover the following subjects:
Accounting | Agricultural Sciences | Business Studies | Economics | English First Additional Language | Geography | History | Life Sciences | Mathematics | Mathematical Literacy | Physical Sciences
- Master teachers will provide face-to-face tutoring at selected venues.
- In the face-to-face classes, Mind the Gap study material will be used in eight of the 11 subjects (Agricultural Sciences, Business Studies and History excluded), in addition to past question papers and study guides.
- There is NO COST involved. All tuition is offered free of charge.
