Matric exams run smoothly in the Western Cape

25 November 2025

25 November 2025 – Statement by Minister David Maynier, Minister of Education Western Cape

The last of the matric exams will be written on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, with 112 papers written during the exam period in the Western Cape.

A total of 1 470 candidates will write Agricultural Management Practices, Marine Sciences or Music Comprehension on the final day.

The exam session has run smoothly this year, thanks to the exceptional management by our officials and school staff. This is a massive administrative task, and we appreciate the support that the public has shown during the exams.

Thank you to our matric teachers who have worked tirelessly to prepare our candidates for these exams. Your support has built a strong foundation for your learners’ future lives and careers, and we appreciate the extra time and effort you have put in throughout the year.

4 190 markers will now mark over 954 000 exam scripts, with marking taking place at 12 marking centres.

The national matric results announcement will take place on Monday, 12 January 2026, and candidates will receive their results at their school or on the WCED website on Tuesday, 13 January 2026.

Congratulations to all our matrics for completing the exams. We can’t wait to celebrate with you when the results are released next year!
